Granite Subaru, Granite Pre-Owned · December 2025 · vs November 2025

Granite Auto Group is fictional. Operating figures are synthetic.

Every warehouse record in this project is synthetic. Granite Auto Group and its three stores are fictional. No real dealership, customer, employee or lending data exists anywhere in the project.

How every figure on this rail is measured

Retail units

KPI-SLS-001

The count of finalized retail and lease deliveries in the period. Wholesale disposals and dealer trades are not retail units and are never counted here.

KPI-GRS-003

Front-end gross plus back-end gross on finalized retail deliveries.

Total PVR

KPI-GRS-006

Average total profit, vehicle plus finance office, earned on each retail unit delivered in the period.

total retail gross / retail units sold

New units

KPI-SLS-002

The count of finalized retail and lease deliveries of new vehicles in the period.

SUM(unit_count) WHERE is_retail = true AND the vehicle's condition is New

Used units

KPI-SLS-003

The count of finalized retail and lease deliveries of used vehicles, including manufacturer-certified pre-owned units, in the period.

Front gross

KPI-GRS-001

Total vehicle profit on finalized retail deliveries: selling price less what the unit cost to acquire, recondition, and pack.

SUM(final sale price - acquisition cost - reconditioning cost - pack amount)

KPI-GRS-002

The sum of net finance reserve and net F&I product gross on finalized retail deliveries.

Verified: the exported component numerators sum exactly to the comparison unit count multiplied by the period change, with no division on either side of the identity.

The rounding line is the residual left when each component is divided by the comparison unit count and rounded to the cent. It is shown rather than folded into a component, because adjusting one component to make a column add up would misstate that component.

The bridge attributes change under a documented arithmetic order: volume priced at the comparison period rate, then each rate change valued at the current period volume. It is an attribution, not a cause. Nothing here identifies why volume or rate moved, and no person, department, inventory position or marketing spend is implicated by it.

Plan and pace

The projection is selling-day arithmetic, not a forecast. Targets are synthetic operating goals, not benchmarks. A monthly plan is a single-month figure, so it is a reference beside the totals rather than a flat line drawn onto the trend.

How retail units against plan is measured
  • Target (KPI-TGT-001): the sum of store-scope plan rows for the selected stores and months. Department rows exist in the same governed dataset and are refinements of the store plan, never addends.
  • Attainment (KPI-TGT-002): summed actual divided by summed target, over the same stores on both sides. It is never the average of store percentages, and a store with no plan contributes to neither side.
  • Pace (KPI-TGT-007): actual divided by governed selling days elapsed, counted from the governed date dimension’s selling-day flag and shared by all three stores.
  • Selling-day pace projection (KPI-TGT-009): pace multiplied by the month’s selling days. It is linear arithmetic over the calendar — not a forecast, not a prediction and not a statistical model — and it ignores the within-month shape of trading, so an early-month figure moves more than a late-month one.

The shape of the deal population

Open these deals

Deal gross has a long tail, so the mean sits above the typical deal. Median and mean are shown together because either alone invites the wrong conclusion.

Total gross per deal

Every retail transaction in scope, counted into bands by its own total gross.

57 deals across 7 bands. Median $2,450, Mean $3,385.

7 of 57 deals in scope closed at a front-end loss. A negative front is a real dealership outcome: it is counted, shown with its sign, and never suppressed.

The median is computed from the deal-level values themselves, never from store medians: an order statistic cannot be recomputed from an aggregate. The mean over a retail population is total gross divided by retail units, which is KPI-GRS-006 by definition, so it is the same figure the performance summary shows.

How to read this

Front and back are published separately and are not ranked against each other. A store can hold total gross steady while front collapses and the finance office compensates, and that is a materially different situation from one where both are stable: which is preferable depends on the store, not on the figure.

Discount taken, per unit

The MSRP discount divides by the units that actually carry an MSRP, which is fewer than the retail count.
